Evolution of Communication Video

Overview

In this workshop you will create Voki, Jing and Blogger accounts and explore
ways you might use these tools or similar applications in the classroom as a
digital tool for instruction and communication. We will use these communication
tools for presenting information in engaging ways to positively impact the classroom environment and encourage interaction among students. Finally, you will examine
existing student-driven activities and adapt them or develop your own for students
to gain experience and an understanding of using communication tools effectively.

Tool Introduction

Blogger

Blogger is a tool for presenting information and getting feedback from specific
individuals or the public on the information you are presenting. Additionally, it is
a great platform for posting information and making simple web pages.

Voki

According to the Voki website: Voki is a tool that enables users to express
themselves on the web in their own voice using a talking character. You can
customize your Voki to look like you or take on the identity of lots of other
types of characters… animals, monsters, anime, etc. Your Voki can speak
with your own voice which is added via microphone, upload or phone. Voki
lives on your blog, social network profile, etc.

For this workshop, we will be creating a Voki and adding it to our Blogger
blogs.

Jing

Jing is a tool that you can use to take a picture or make a short video with
audio of what you see on your computer monitor.
